| Expertise: Theory of Bose-Einstein condensate, macroscopic quantum interference, nonlinear matter waves. Photonics,
fibre linear and nonlinear optics, nonlinear optics, optical
solitons, theory of the nonlinear equations, theoretical methods
for analysis of the nonlinear waves and their interactions, numerical
modelling of the nonlinear pulse propagation including fibre optics
communication systems. Nonlinear waves in random media, nonlinear
excitations in condensed matter, particularly in nonlinear
lattices.Dynamical chaos of nonlinear waves in inhomogeneous media.
Qualifications: 1985 - Doctor of Science (Highest Scientific Degree in USSR), Institute of Theoretical Physics, Kiev, Ukraine. Dissertation: “Dynamics of solitons in inhomogeneous condensed media” 1975 - PhD degree on Theoretical Physics, Institute of Nuclear Physics, Tashkent. Dissertation: “Theory of weak interactions with nonpolynomial Lagrangians”. 1969 - M. S. degree (with honors), Department of Physics, Tashkent State University, Uzbekistan.

Awards: 1990 - Uzbekistan State Prize in Science (Physics). 1995 - Distinguished Scientist of Uzbekistan. 2002 - Prize of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences for a best annual work.
2003 - Al-Khwarezmi Gold medal of Uzbekistan Academy of Science for
works on the Bose-Einstein condensates (The highest Award of the
Academy).
Membership in Professional Organizations: Member of Council on nonlinear dynamics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Member of the Optical Society of America. Head of Physics Department of the High Attestation Commission of Uzbekistan (1992-1997). Member of the Scientific Council in the Theoretical physics of the Physics Department of Tashkent University. Member of the Society in Industrial and Applied Mathematics(SIAM,USA).
